After a day that gave far more than I ever expected of it, I'm in Preston, Lancs. In theory the route between here and Manchester is grimy conurbation, but my route planning came up trumps as I took an old drovers or resevoir-access road across the high ground above Chorley. All around me sat the cradle of the Industrial revolution: the Leeds-Liverpool canal, cobbled streets, the few remaining chimneys acting as reminders of the dark satanic mills and ricketts. Below me sat the wrong sort of terrain for my pristine bicycle! Thankfully, no incidents ensued and I haven't yet seen any signs of ricketts
This is my current location.
